   正月デートが本当に可愛すぎた。「最初のころと比べて、今のほうがもっと好き」——1年でこの二人が積み上げてきた恋愛面・キャラクター面の成長は、質も量も本当に得難い。年の初めには会話もろくに成立していなかったのに、いまや切り離せない関係で、鈴木さんが谷くん抜きでいる姿のほうが違和感すらある。 正直、鈴木さんが髪を染めて、谷くんの家族に受け入れてもらうには自分を変えないといけないと思い込んでいたのには苛立った。だって彼女はそのままで完璧なのに。谷くんの人生を良いほうへ変えたのは彼女の元の性格なのだから、恥じることなんて何もない。ご両親、とくにお母さんが、鈴木さんがひどく緊張していることを見抜いて、安心させて家族として迎え入れてくれたのが本当に嬉しかった。 もっと彼氏を頼って、正直になりなさいよ。息子に、鈴木さんが谷くんを想うくらい本気で愛してくれる人がいたら、どんな親だって喜ぶ。 正月の初詣回にはいつも弱いのだけど、今回はほぼ全員が出ていて楽しかった。ただ西さんだけがなぜか外れていたのはどうして。ともあれ、この1年で全員がここまで来たのが本当に嬉しい。受験を気にしているのが谷くんだけというのがまた。 みんな大人になっていく。高校生活の残り時間をどう大事にするのか、見るのが楽しみだ。あと、最後に平と東の欠片をくれてありがとう。そろそろあの二人にも動きがほしい。

   Oh my God the new year’s date was sooo cute!! “Compared to In the beginning, I love her even more now” y’all wish y’all faves could have the amount and quality of romantic and character development that Tani and Miyu have had in a year. It’s so crazy to think that they could barely even hold a conversation with one another at the start of the year and now they’re totally inseparable and it doesn’t even seem right seeing Miyu without Tani and vice versa. My shaylas 🥹 Actually so annoyed Miyu dyed her hair and thought she needed to act differently to be accepted by Tani’s family because she’s literally perfect as she is! It’s her natural personality that’s totally changed Tani’s life for the better, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of! I’m really glad his parents, especially his mom, clocked that Miyu was feeling really nervous and reassured and welcomed her into the family 🥹 Learn to rely on your boyfriend more and be honest with him, silly! Any parent would be so happy for their son to have someone who truly loves them like Miyu does Tani. I’m always a sucker for a good new year’s shrine visit chapter and this was such a fun one with most of the cast, except my girl Nishi, who was left out for whatever reason?? But I’m really happy how far everyone’s come in the last year! Tani being the only dork worrying about college entrance exams 😭 My babies are growing up, though and I can’t wait to see how they cherish their remaining time in high school. Also, thank you for the Taira x Azuma crumbs at the end, I hope we finally get to see that ship sail soon.

   冬休み編は最高だった。ドキドキと、ドタバタとやらかしの連続で、とくに谷くんの両親への挨拶の前夜に鈴木さんがやった「お堅い彼女コスプレ」がすごい。結局ご両親は普通に受け入れてくれたわけだけど、彼女が勝手に「格式の高い家」だと思い込んだのは、あの枯山水っぽい庭とか家の古い佇まいのせいだったという。 スーパーの平は今日もいる。寝てるか働いてるか、あるいはスーパーの裏で今期の別作品の誰かと一服してるか。みんなでの初詣、掛け合いはいつもどおり良い。鈴木さんが山田の「秘密の」関係をあれこれ表情でからかい、谷くんが友情について、そしてみんなと過ごせる時間をできるだけ大事にしたいという深いことを言う。その横で鈴木さんが腕を組んで得意げに頷いている——こいつをここまで社交的に育てたのは自分だと言わんばかりに。 10点満点。相変わらず絶好調で、相変わらず美しい。少なくともこの10年で最高のラブコメの一つだ。

   Winter break arc was amazing, full of hearth palpitation and goofs and gaffs, especially from Suzuki's conservative girlfriend cosplay she pulled out the night before Tani's parents home visit! But they are cool with her in the end, she only taught they were a more "prestigious" family 'cause they had one of those sand gardens thingy or for the old look the house had lol! Supermarket Taira is always there, sleeping and slaving away there, maybe even smoking behind at the said supermarket with another someone from this seasonals... Shrine visit with the gang, banter good as always, Suzuki doing the all the faces to tease Yamada and his "secret" relationship, and Tani saying some deep shit about friendship and spending as much time as he can together with the gang, all the while, proud and smug Suzuki nodding with her arms crossed like raised that motherfucker into a social butterfly that he's now, kinda! 10/10, still going strong and looking as beautiful as ever! One of the best romcoms of this decade, at least!

   挨拶の前と最中の鈴木さんが、共感できすぎる。寝ないといけない時間に「それ考えてなかった」となるのが一番つらい。谷くんが会ったときの彼女は明らかに寝不足の顔をしていたし、すぐ涙ぐんでいたのもたぶんそのせいだ。自分をより良く、より気の利く人間に見せるためだけに睡眠時間を削ったり遅刻の危険を冒したりするのは、本当に馬鹿げている。 お母さんの反応は変だと思った。谷くんが両親に見せた写真では全部ピンク髪だったはずだから。でもあれは髪色というより、全体の印象とぎこちない笑顔に対する反応だったのだろう。

   Miyu before and during that visit is so relatable! "I haven't thought about that" when you're supposed to sleep is the worst. She looked so sleep deprived when Tani saw her, and the easy crying was probably part of that too. It is so silly to sacrifice your sleeping time or risk being late just to show a better, more considerate side of yourself... I thought the mom's reaction was strange because she had pink hair in all photos Tani may have shown to his parents, but it was the overall image and awkward smile.

   今週も『正反対な君と僕』のおかげで顔がほころんだ。 かわいそうな鈴木さん。谷くんの両親の前でちゃんとして見せようとして散々な一日だったうえ、彼女の母親が、娘がすでにパニックなのにまったく助けになっていなかったのが笑える。 谷くんのお母さんは率直な人だ。谷くんそっくり。お父さんも良さそうだし、おばあちゃんのサムズアップには大笑いした。お母さんが驚いた顔をしたのは、鈴木さんの雑に染めた髪に対してではなく、写真で見ていた印象と違いすぎる、意外なほど良い笑顔に対してだったというのが良い。 休みの最終日、初詣ではみんながナベを待っていた。ナベは鳥居に石を投げたがっていた。あれが良いことなのかどうかは分からないけれど。 今回の東はとても綺麗だった。平と東が現実になる日を数えている。山田は、鈴木さんと谷くんの距離の近さを見て初めて嫉妬していた。自分は西とそこまで進めていないから。

   Another week of You and I are Polar Opposites to put a bright smile on my face. Poor Suzuki.. she had a shitty day trying to be presentable infront of Tani's parents and Suzuki's mom wasn't helping at all when her daughter was already panicking LOL Tani's mom is a straight shooter. She's just like Tani. His dad also seems cool. Grandma's thumbs up got me laughing so hard. Tani's mom's shocked look was not at the improperly dyed hair of Suzuki but her surprisingly good smile that was too different from what she saw from the photos lmao Everyone waited for Nabe for the shrine visit on their last day of vacation. Nabe wanted to throw stones at a Torii gate xD I don't know if it's the right thing to do or not 😅 Azuma was so pretty in this episode. I'm just counting the days when Tairazuma becomes a reality. Yamada is getting jealous for the first time seeing Suzuki and Tani close since he hasn't progressed that far with Nishi, haha.

    ようやく『正反対な君と僕』の新しい回だ。この作品の一週間の待ち時間は、なぜか他より長く感じる。何話も見逃した気分になるが、実際は見逃していない。それだけ良い作品だから、待ちきれなくなるのだろう。そう思わせてくれる作品はそう多くない。 今期は谷くんに焦点が当たることが増えて本当に嬉しい。1期のあと、彼はあまり掘り下げられず謎めいたままで終わるのかと思っていた。間違っていてよかった。2期まで取っておくのは遅いという意見もあるだろうが、自分は気にならない。とくに2期（実質は2クール目）がこれだけ早く来たのだから。時間がかかっていたとしても問題はなかったけれど。いつ鈴木さんを好きになったのか自分でもよく分からない、という彼の答えが好きだ。謎が少し残るのがいい。それでも彼女への想いはどんどん強くなっている。鈴木さんも同じだろうが、悠介のような人間の場合は少し意味合いが違って感じられる。 そして悠介がついに彼女を家族に紹介した。思い切ったことをする。時間の問題ではあったけれど。ただ、彼女は気を遣いすぎて、必要もないのにきちんとした人間であろうと自分を追い込んでしまった。あの新しい髪は控えめに言って事故だ。しかも次から次へと失敗を重ねる。少し見ていて痛かった。それでも谷家が本当に良い人たちで助かった。悠介は、これほど優しくて気の回る彼女を得たという意味で当たりを引いている。将来あの家に入ったらきっと良い伴侶になるだろう。 終盤も良かった。東はあの髪型で本当に綺麗だった。鈴木さんが黒髪のままになるのか気になっていたが、幸いそうはならなそうだ。数話だけならそれも新鮮だったかもしれないが。西も一緒だったらよかった。せめて山田が宿題を終えたと言ったことで存在は示唆されていたけれど。時間が過ぎるのは本当に嫌だ。この調子だと、この作品が終わるころには全員卒業してしまう。きちんと完結する作品のほうが好きだが、これに関してはもっと長く続いてほしい。せめて終わりまでまだ10話ある。

    Finally, another episode of You and I Are Polar Opposites. The weekly wait for this series feels longer than others for some reason. Like it feels like I've missed many episodes, but I actually didn't. I guess the series is just that good to make me feel so impatient. Not many series can do that. I'm so glad Tani's getting a lot more focus this season. After Season 1, I thought maybe he wouldn't get much focus and would remain mostly mysterious. So glad I was wrong. Some might say saving it for Season 2 might be late, but I don't really mind. Especially since Season 2 (or really cour 2) came out so soon. Not that it'd be a problem if it took longer. I loved his response that he doesn't really know when he fell for Miyu. It still keeps some mystery. But his love for Suzuki just keeps getting stronger and stronger. I'm sure it's the same case with Miyu, but for someone like Yuusuke, it feels a bit different. Wow. Yuusuke finally introduced his girlfriend to his family. That's bold. It was only a matter of time. But poor girl was overly considerate and tortured herself to be prim and proper when it wasn't necessary. Her new hair looks like a war crime lol. And she just kept messing things up one after another. That was a little cringeworthy. But she's lucky the Tani family is actually really nice. Yuusuke really won the lottery getting such a kind and considerate girlfriend. She'd actually be a great wife in their household in the future. The last part of the episode was great too. Azuma looks so beautiful in that hairstyle. I was wondering if Miyu would actually switch back to black hair, but thankfully it doesn't seem like it lol. Tho it'd be kinda unique for a few episodes. Kinda wish Nishi also joined them. But at least her existence was alluded to when Yamada said he finished his homework. Man, the passage of time really sucks. At this rate, by the time this series ends, they'll all graduate. I prefer shows that have proper closures, but I wish this show was longer cause it's genuinely so good. At least there are still 10 more episodes left before it ends.

    この回の最初の台詞に字幕がまったく付いていなかったことに、誰も気づかなかったのだろうか。鈴木さんが白いもこもこのミトンの手を握りしめて真面目な顔をして、声も低く「アナウンサー声」になっている——なのに字幕が出ない。そのあとカメラが切り替わって、彼女と悠介がコンクリのベンチに並んで座り、彼女はいつもの元気な調子に戻る。そこからは今日で年が終わるという話に字幕が付く。 これは自分だけだろうか。自分が見た配信のファイルの字幕タイミングがおかしかったのか。

    did nobody else notice the first line said in this episode had zero subtitles? Miyu is acting all serious with her fuffy white mitten clad hand clenched and her voice is deep and 'announcer voice!' pitched... annnd i got no subtitles. then the camera angle flips to her and Yuusuke sitting side by side on a concrete slab bench and she's her normal bubbly perky self. with subs mentioning how the year ends today and stuff. was that just me? did the file i streamed have badly timed subs?

Really?" to his mom mentioning the aunt uncle and two cousins (shown in the thought bubble) won't be arriving for New Years... what Mrs. Tani says while she's doing something in the kitchen has no subs. maybe washing dishes in the sink? then Mr. Tani says, "Oh dear." 'ara ara ara' and the subs pop up for that line. cmon now. missing subs in this day n age? where's the QC people!??!

    驚いた。谷くんの台詞が誰より多い回はこれが初めてかもしれない。ついにあの気障な台詞で平と山田を落としにいった。毎話ごとに彼らの友情が深まっていくのを見られるのが嬉しい。正直そろそろ平と東の進展が見たい。今回は西がいなくて寂しかったが、まあ中心メンバーでの外出回だった。今回はサブカルネタの引用が無かった気がする。あの足がつるくだりも笑った。

    Damn, i guess this might be the 1st episode where i saw Tani has more dialogues than anyone. He, at last, rizzed Taira and Yamada by saying that cheesy line. LOL!! Glad to see their friendship boomed after every episode. I honestly want Tairazuma developments now. Missed Nishi in this episode but anyways it was the core group members outing. This episode didn't have any pop-culture reference ig. That muscle-cramp thing was also hilarious.

    今回は鈴木さんを3色で見られた。最初は元のピンク、次に黒髪、最後はホットピンク（自分にはそう見えた）。格ゲーのカラーバリエーションみたいなものだ。ただ髪色を変えた理由は必ずしも良いものではなく、急な招待を受けて慌てて「ちゃんとした人」になろうとした結果だった。彼女がしくじる場面はどれも良かったが、内心では苦しんでいた。谷くんがそれに気づいて助けたのが救いだ。正月に鈴木さんを悲しませるわけにはいかない。 谷くんの両親に受け入れてもらおうとあそこまでやった気持ちは分かるが、実際そこまでする必要はなかった。谷母が「次はもっと気楽にしていい」と言ってはっきりさせてくれたのがありがたい。良い母親だ。後半は友人たちとの初詣に充てられていて、長い石段を上る話も含めて良い時間だった。ナベが一人で楽しんでいることに対する東の反応も好きだ。信じられないかもしれないが、人は一人でも楽しめる。おかしな話に聞こえるだろうけれど。 ただ谷くんはここで、楽しい時間はまだあるにせよ、受験が近づいていて一緒にいられる時間が急速に終わりに向かっていることをはっきり示した。寂しいが、時間が過ぎるのは誰にも避けられない。できるのは残された時間を最大限に使うことだけで、それを言うのが谷くんだったというのがなお良かった。 （KiliianSleipnir の指摘について）5分00秒あたりの件は自分も気づいた。幸い意味は伝わったので致命的ではなかったが、字幕の抜けはやはり残念だ。

    We got Suzuki in three different colors this episode, first the original pink, then black hair, and we ended on hot pink (that’s how it looked to me anyway), these could be considered her alt colors in a fighting game lol. But the reason for the hair color change wasn’t necessarily a good one, being that she rushed to try and be more proper because of the sudden invite to Tani’s house, there were some good bits when she was fumbling but on the inside she was struggling, thankfully Tani saw this tho and helped her out. We can’t have a sad Suzuki on New Years now, can we? But yeah while it’s understandable that she went through all of that to appease Tani’s parents, really she didn’t need to go that far, thankfully Tani’s mom made this clear when she said to just relax next time, W mom. And the second half of the episode was dedicated to a shrine visit among the friend group, it was a good time despite the long way up to the shrine, and I liked Azuma’s reaction to Nabe having fun alone, like yeah believe or not, some people can have fun by themselves, crazy concept I know lol. But Tani made it apparent here that while there are still fun times to be had, their time together is quickly coming to an end with entrance exams coming up, it’s sad but the passage of time comes for us all, and the best thing you can do is make the most of the time you have, and Tani being the one to say something like that made it even better.     やはりピンク髪が無かったせいだ。鈴木さんが谷家に入って母・父・祖母と対面する場面の構図とカメラ角度、そして間を考えてみてほしい。鈴木さんは笑っていないし、表情もほとんど作っていない。それでお母さんが「え？」となって、こめかみに焦りの汗が浮かぶ。あの人は完全に、息子が修学旅行の写真とは別の女の子を正月に連れてきたと思っている。おばあちゃんは戸惑いつつもすぐ理解したはずだ。以前に鈴木さんと会っているし、あの年代にしては進歩的で今風の感覚を持っているように見える。だからピンク髪から染め直したイメージチェンジだと察したのだろう。加えて、鈴木さんの指が黒い染料だらけだったのもある。夜遅かったからゴム手袋を忘れたのだろう。 思うに谷母は、髪色のことと鈴木さんだと認識できなかった「驚いた瞬間」を、笑顔や写真の話、正月の彼女の様子と修学旅行の写真の様子の違いに話をずらすことで、丁寧に取り繕いたかったのだと思う。同じ女性として化粧や服や髪を気にする立場からも、そして同じ道を通ってきた年長者——彼氏の親への挨拶を経験した人間——としても。 考えてみれば、おばあちゃんまでいる三世代同居の家だ。おばあちゃんが谷母の母なのか義母なのかは分からないが、どちらにせよ夫婦がおばあちゃんに初めて挨拶した場に居合わせているはずだ。その人が、孫が正月に彼女を連れてきたことにサムズアップを出す。相当に格好いいお婆さんだ。

    @Flarona oh it WAS the lack of pink hair! think on the blocking and camera angles and timing of Miyu walking into the Tani household and meeting mom, dad, n granny. Miyu wasn't smiling or making much of a face. but mom goes, 'huh?' and has the worry sweat droplet on the side of her head. lady totally thought her son had brought a DIFFERENT GIRL over for New Years than was in the class trip picture! i bet granny was puzzled but got it pretty quick, since she had run into Miyu previously. plus granny seems very progressive, hip, and modern for a lady her age. so i think granny picked up on the 'new hair dye' image change due to Miyu's pink color... plus those giant black hair dye marks all over Miyu's fingers. i guess she forgot to wear rubber gloves since it was so late at night. i'm thinking Mrs. Tani wanted to politely cover her 'shocked moment' with the hair coloring and not recognizing Miyu... by going on about the smile and picture and what Miyu acted like for New Years... versus what she was like in the class picture. both as a female/lady, worrying about cosmetics, clothing, hair the whole thing... and as an older person who has been there done that... met the parents of her boyfriend and whatnot... i mean if you think on it, they're a multi-generational family with granny right there. now if she's Mrs. Tani or the wife's mom... i wouldn't know. but with either one, granny had to have been there for the married couple's first introductions to granny... so her being 'thumbs up!' to her grandson bringing his girl over for New Years? hella cool ol gal. :>

    この作品らしい、楽しくて前向きな回がまた一つ。今回はいつもより谷くんが能動的だった。鈴木さんに家族と会ってほしいと思うこと自体が、二人が互いに対して得てきた成長と安心感の表れで、だからこそこういう控えめな次の一歩を踏み出せる。おかげで鈴木さんはパニックになり、緊張から少しドジを踏み、母親にまた髪を黒く染めてもらうことになったわけだが。最初の対面を越えたことで、これからは（新しいホットピンクの髪のままでも）ご両親の前でもっと気楽にいられるといい。ご両親は写真を通して、元のピンク髪でのもっと変な顔もすでに見ているのだから。谷母は、鈴木さんにとってこの対面が大変なものだったとちゃんと分かっていたし、次はもっと気楽にしてほしいと思っているはずだ。母親は、谷くんが鈴木さんのために自分を良くしようとしてきた細かな変化をたくさん見抜いていた。おばあちゃんが再会を楽しみにしていた描写も好きだった。谷くんは友人たちについても、時間が急速に過ぎて別々の道に進む前に、彼らをどれだけ大切に思うようになったかを語っていた。この作品が今年最高の作品だとは思わないが、キャラクターを通して安心感と前向きな気持ちを届けることに関しては一貫していて、その成長のテンポも自然だ。

    Another fun, positive episode to watch from this show, this time with Tani being more proactive in this episode than the others in general. Him wanting Miyu to visit his family shows the growth and comfort they both have experienced around each other for him to want to take a subtle next step like that. This even had Miyu panicked since she was a bit klutzy during their meeting with nerves, and even had her mother dye her hair black again. Hopefully with that initial part over, Miyu can feel more comfortable around his parents (with her newer hot pink hair too), since his parents has already seen goofier faces of her with her original pink hair through photos. Tani's mom did recognize that for Miyu, this was a difficult meeting and hopefully she can relax next time around since his mom did recognize a ton of little changes Tani has been making to better himself for Miyu. I did like the detail of the grandma being excited to meet Miyu again too. Tani even had more praise for his friend group there and how much he's grown to care for them despite time quickly flying before everyone has to head on separate paths. I don't think this show's the best of the best this year, but it's just been consistent in delivering comforting and uplifting feelings with their characters mixed with the right pace in progression and growth for these characters in a natural way.
